Alternative Spring Break in New Orleans 2015
Each year during spring break, Bellarmine student participate in various trips to serve communities. The 2015 New Orleans group shared some of their experiences with us here.
Nineteen students ventured to New Orleans to rebuild neighborhoods that are still impacted by Hurricane Katrina just before the 10th anniversary of the storm
“This trip allowed me to see the entire city of New Orleans in a different light. It gave me a new perspective on what social class is, and allowed me to see how race and gender influenced city dynamic, especially when it came to Mardi Gras and the French Quarter. It also gave me a deeper look into Hurricane Katrina and why the city is still in such disrepair.” Julie Reczek, Junior
